Physiotherapy PPE

What are Physiotherapy PPE?

PPE are Personal Protective Equipment and include any device worn or used by a person to protect them against one or more risks that may threaten their health or safety.

When choosing the items that will form part of our PPE, the most recommended option is to choose single-use elements, as they are ideal when working conditions require strict safety and hygiene standards.

What should a disposable Physiotherapy PPE include?

In physiotherapy, the essential elements that a PPE must include to protect both the professional and the patient are:

  • Disposable mask. Protects the user from solid and liquid particles suspended in the air.

  • Disposable gloves. Prevent bacterial contamination and chemical contact with the hands.

For extra safety and hygiene, disposable masks and gloves can be complemented with:

  • Disposable gown. Protects the user and their clothing from solids and liquids while preventing contamination.

  • Disposable overshoes. Protect users from bacteria that may adhere to shoes after stepping on surfaces.

  • Disposable sleeve covers. Cover the upper arms and ensure protection and safety.

  • Disposable cap. Prevents workspace contamination caused by sweat, hair or microorganisms.

Advantages of disposable elements

These are the main advantages of disposable PPE elements compared to reusable ones:

  • Hygiene. Prevent stains, cross-contamination and reduce the risk of transmitting agents.

  • Waterproofing. Their surface does not absorb or allow liquids or gases to pass through.

  • Comfort. They fit well and are lightweight.

  • Reliability. As they do not suffer wear like reusable clothing, they provide greater confidence by always being in optimal condition.

  • Storage. Being single-use, they can be disposed of without requiring additional storage.

  • Economical. They require no washing or sterilisation, representing both economic and energy savings.
