Disposable masks

Disposable masks, our best ally

Disposable masks have become a common and indispensable accessory in our daily lives. However, although it is now usual to see them in the street and to have them in every home— not only in Spain but worldwide— their use is also especially recommended in the Food Industry, the Catering Sector and the Healthcare Sector.

The use of this single-use product protects the wearer against solid and liquid particles suspended in the air, both during daily and professional use; and in the workplace, it also protects against splashes when cooking or operating, for example, while at the same time protecting food or patients from possible hair shedding or liquid mites.

The use of disposable masks can be complemented with other single-use products, such as disposable gloves and caps, thereby protecting both the user and the products or people they come into contact with in their working environment.

As this is a single-use product, it is advisable to use disposable masks only once, since prolonged or repeated use will reduce their effectiveness in performing the function for which they were designed.

Types of disposable masks

There are several types of disposable masks available, such as:

  • Surgical Mask IIR with elastic bands in polypropylene non-woven fabric
  • Surgical Mask IIR with ties in polypropylene non-woven fabric
  • Triple-layer Hygienic Mask with elastics in polypropylene non-woven fabric
  • Paper Mask

Except for the paper mask, all others are made from polypropylene non-woven fabric, a single-layer material with a flat, flexible and porous structure, available in double or triple layers. The paper mask, on the other hand, is made from single-layer microporous paper.

In all cases, the plastic and cardboard components are 100% recyclable when disposed of in the appropriate container. When putting the mask on, the user should take care not to stretch the material beyond its capacity, as this may deform or tear the fabric.
